DR. BRITTNEY AUTRY COLE
Founder of Cent(HER)ed Collective Girls
Brittney Autry Cole, DSW, LCSW is a champion for creating access to equitable, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed mental wellness opportunities for people of color.
In 2019, Brittney launched the Cent(her)ed Collective. The Cent(her)ed Collective is a mental wellness social enterprise designed to empower Black women and girls to engage in transformative healing practices and gain mastery over their healing processes. Cent(her)ed Collective accomplishes this feat by creating rich cultural experiences for women to learn and grow through retreats, holistic therapeutic support, youth programming, and socially conscious merchandise to close the mental health gap for Black women and girls.
Last summer, Brittney completed her doctoral degree in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania to further her education and better advocate on behalf of those most vulnerable. Her dissertation project focused on addressing sexual violence in Black women utilizing intersectional treatment Practices.

In 2020, Brittney launched Cent(HER)ed Collective Girls, a non-profit organization aimed at instilling wellness practices in young girls ages 8-18. Through the partnership with Noble Schools, Cent(HER)ed Collective Girls embeds wellness programming within the school day to support young Black girls learn healthy coping skills for all of life’s highs and lows.

Brittney also serves on the advisory board of the Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative, the board of Lion’s Pride Mentoring, and is a member of the Howard University Alumni Association. In her not-so-spare time, Brittney enjoys traveling, working out, reading, and spending time with her friends and family!
What are some of the challenges you are currently facing and what are you hoping to gain from collaboration?
Since we are just implementing our programming fully, we are dealing with the nuances of beginning anew! We are in need of support with funding sources, marketing and program evaluation.
