Mission

The mission of the Coalition on Urban Girls (CUG) is to improve the health, safety, and wellness of girls; through advocacy, research, cross-sector collaboration, and training that strengthen the capacity and sustainability of girl-serving organizations.

Vision

The Coalition on Urban Girls strives for a society in which all girls are well. We work toward eliminating barriers to girls' success and ensuring that every girl has the opportunities and access she needs to thrive.

History

The Coalition on Urban Girls was Founded on March 17, 2010 (as the South Side Coalition on Urban Girls) by Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP in response to the “Status of Girls in Illinois Report” (Released: September 10, 2009). Executing A National Expansion Plan:The Coalition on Urban Girls will continue to build, connect, and support girl-serving organizations in urban areas across Chicagoland and Illinois. We aim to ensure that all girls have everything they need to thrive! As the identifiable leading experts, educators, and master practitioners, we are equipped to achieve this expansion by sharing our research widely across the globe with other coalitions and individuals who work directly with girls.

Offering professional development opportunities that provide continuing education credentials and certifications to those working for and with girls!

Leading at the forefront of decision making and policy change impacting girls.

Serving as educators and thought leaders for researchers, public servants, philanthropic efforts, and social service agencies.

Supporting the creation of an ecosystem of stakeholders equipped to ensure the well-being of urban girls across the country.

Developing and sharing a repository of research to impact, practice, and increase awareness of the needs of girls within society.

Creating innovative concepts, approaches, and delivery methods using Human-Centered Design.
