Event Recap: Successful Advocacy & Policy Training

In May 2024, we hosted a dynamic Advocacy & Policy Training session with esteemed trainers Sylvia Puente and Marlen Mendoza from the Latino Policy Forum. This event was designed to equip girls-serving organizations with the tools necessary for effective advocacy while adhering to the legal requirements of their 501(c)(3) status.

Key Highlights:

  • Understanding 501(c)(3) Status and Advocacy: Participants gained clarity on the legal restrictions and allowances for engaging in advocacy, ensuring compliance while maximizing their impact.

  • Defining Roles and Strategies: The training provided valuable insights into the roles organizations can play in advocacy and how to effectively strategize their efforts.

  • Building Relationships with Policymakers: Participants learned techniques for establishing and maintaining productive relationships with key policymakers and stakeholders.

  • Effective Communication: Strategies were shared on how to communicate advocacy messages clearly and persuasively to different audiences.

  • Monitoring and Evaluating Advocacy Efforts: The session emphasized the importance of assessing advocacy impacts to refine and improve ongoing initiatives.

We are grateful to all participants and look forward to seeing the positive changes inspired by this training.

Stay tuned for future events and opportunities to enhance your advocacy skills!
