Are you a mission-driven organization looking for workspace? Join Healing to Action
(HTA) as our Office Mate and play a vital role in fostering a supportive environment
for community members!
Who We Are:
Healing to Action (HTA) is ending gender-based violence by building the leadership
and the collective power of the communities most impacted, transforming the narrative of survivors from vulnerable “victims” to powerful leaders in the movement to end gender-based violence.
Founded in 2016, HTA is led by the community most impacted by gender-based
violence. Our work centers survivors from Black and brown communities, survivors
with disabilities, LGBTQ+ survivors, and survivors from communities historically
disenfranchised. With survivor-leaders at the forefront of our work, HTA is working to
transform the current narrative of survivors from “helpless” victims to powerful
leaders in the movement to end gender-based violence.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking an Office Mate organization to join us in office rental. Rent prices in
Chicago are a barrier to safe, consistent meeting space for many organizations. By
partnering with a group whose work and values align, we can support each other in
having a dependable space in which to work in service of our missions.
We’re currently located in Fulton Market, and looking to stay in this centrally located
area, as our Leader base comes from all over the city.
Space must-haves
● Minimum 2000 square feet
● Wheelchair accessible
● Kitchen
● Group meeting space
● Storage space
● Separate room for child care
● Welcoming and inclusive for all survivors of gender-based violence
HTA work practices:
HTA is a remote-first work environment, but hosts an average of between 1-5
in-person gatherings per month. These gatherings include staff retreats, departmental meetings, and meetings and events with our base of survivor leaders.
As part of our accessibility practices, we maintain a wheelchair accessible space,
and provide interpretation services, food, and childcare for meetings with our
survivor leaders.
An ideal officemate would align with our key values in sharing a space: centering
black and brown and LGBTQ+ communities, practicing healing justice, and honoring
liberatory practices.
What We Commit To
As lead tenant, Healing to Action will:
● We serve as liaison to the landlord and have the infrastructure to manage utility
contracts and pay rent on time
● We communicate as early and as often as possible on space usage, needs, and
ideas for adaptation
● We work collaboratively with others to ensure our workspace is accessible and
healing centered for all who enter
● We prioritize relationship building and center people in our thinking and decision
making
Timeline
● Accepting inquiries on a rolling basis until an Officemate is found
● Exploratory conversations beginning in April 2025
● Lease negotiations June/July
