President
Our girls are in a state of emergency. The plight and pain of urban girls are routinely ignored and silenced by mainstream media and by those in power. This has to change now! As my mentor and Founder of CUG, Sherida Morrison always says, “Girls are the birth canals of our nation”, yet we carelessly treat them as if they are disposable. The only way to stem the tide of despair that has haunted too many girls of color is by investing in their future. With effective policies that speak to the lived experiences of girls, a real commitment to holistic care of girls, and cross-sector collaboration we will secure a healthy and safe future for ALL girls who reside in Chicago and beyond.
Steering Committee
Our Steering Committee is responsible for planning and execution related to the organization's mission and consists of leaders representing multiple constituencies such as public health agencies, government agencies, social services agencies, educational institutions, and researchers.
